“Anyone who praises a man to his face,” a certain elder said, “delivers him up for the devil to do battle against him.”
What could this Saying possibly be telling us? Praise is a wonderful thing, encouraging and supportive and in very short supply.
Let’s remember the perspective of the Desert Christians which is that the only thing a person should ever be thinking about is God and maybe service to others. A person should never be thinking of themselves and praise does make a person think of one’s self.
