Chapter 7: On Humility

The second degree of humility
is that a person love not his own will
nor take pleasure in satisfying his desires,
but model his actions on the saying of the Lord,
“I have come not to do My own will,
but the will of Him who sent Me” (John 6:38).
It is written also,
“Self-will has its punishment,
but constraint wins a crown.”

Some thoughts

Been corresponding with a friend about humility. We have come to the conclusion that the best we can do is to avoid bragging and self-righteousness. Also to cease to bemoan how far short we fall because that too is only another way of attracting attention to ourselves. Instead, we agree what we need to do is concentrate on that which God calls us to do and to be and leave room for the Holy Spirit to get in there and do Her work.

What say you?
